About Me
Jill Hales, Author of I Read What You Wrote is a Chicagoland native. This is her first fiction novel. Jill is married to her husband John of over 35 years and enjoys spending time with her 3 adult children and her small dog. She spent over 28 years in the advertising and HR technology world and then decided to focus on writing. She loves to read, write, travel and play tennis.
My writing roots
Taking on the task of writing a book was not on my radar. I LOVED Reading books but could not even contemplate the idea of actually writing a book. My mother and sister were the writers in the family. My mom had always wanted to get her memoirs published and she also wrote poetry. My sister, being an English Teacher was also someone that amazed me at her talented writing skills. I was okay just reading. When my mother was dying, I decided (with encouragement from my husband) to write a story based on my mother's memoirs. It took me many years to write it, mainly because I was working through my grief, but I am excited to finally finish. On to my next book! I have been bitten by the bug of writing - look out!
